In Indonesia, colorectal cancer is a malignancy that often occurs in men and women ranks third most (Globocan, 2012). Overall, the risk of getting colorectal cancer is 1 in 20 people.
The development of science, research and technology is a challenge in medical science, including in the science of surgery, including gastrointestinal surgery. Coloproctology is a part of gastrointestinal surgery that has developed in terms of the number of cases and multidisciplinary treatment. In the past, colorectal surgery was rarely performed. The operation is almost never done at the referral center hospital institution, because the patient arrives late.
In collaborative era, colorectal surgery has shifted from the paradigm of risky surgery to surgery with higher survival and success rates.
Advances in technology and perioperative care have played an important role in the advancement of surgery colorectal. The advancement of the colorectal sub-specialty has made the goal of surgery colorectal disease from just beyond the perioperative period but even to increasing outcome of colorectal surgery and perioperative care.
In anticipation of this rapid development, professionals working in Digestive surgery is required to have updated insight and knowledge, so that they can provide services rationally, adequately, effectively, and efficiently. For implement one of the objectives of the continuing medical education program Division of Digestive Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University with the Association of Indonesian Digestive Surgeon (IKABDI) South Sulawesi region, IKABDI with PABI Sulsel held the 24th National Scientific Meeting in conjunction with the 2nd Scientific Congress of Indonesian Society of Coloproctology.
Considering that this kind of regional level event has never been held, the committee determined to initiate the holding of quality and fulfilling events participants. The implementation of this activity has the theme “Coloproctology Disorder in Daily Practice” which lasted for 4 days from 21st – 24th July 2022, with the number of participants targeted at 300 people.
The main activities that will be carried out are formal scientific meetings in the form of workshops, lectures Guest, Symposium and Expert Discussion which will be delivered by experts in their respective fields.
